Field Service on Medium Voltage VFDs

Our primary service business has become field service on medium voltage VFDs. We didn’t start out that way, in fact there was a time we turned down field service requests on medium voltage VFDs.  But that changed, and it’s now hard to imagine a time when did not do medium voltage field service.

IF you NEED Field Service on a medium voltage VFD..  use any of the contact methods on the right of this page OR call 770-448-4644 now.

Medium Voltage VFD Field ServiceThe transition from low voltage to medium voltage VFD field service was not easy.  We had some growing pains. Many of these are covered in a May 2017 article in Electrical Apparatus about us entitled “Ramp it Up.”

While there are similarities between low voltage and medium voltage VFDs, the differences from a service standpoint are significant.  The design topologies vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, and anyone providing medium voltage VFD field service had better be aware of them.  We have other blogs on this site about design topology.

What medium voltage VFDs do we routinely service?  Probably the most common medium voltage VFD field service we do is on the Siemens or Robicon Perfect Harmony VFD.  That’s simply because they have the largest installed base.

We do quite a bit of field service on the Toshiba T300MVi medium voltage VFD, along with the Rockwell or Allen Bradley Powerflex 7000 drive.

We do a fair amount of work on the WEG MV01, and have begun doing work on the Ansaldo or Nidec medium voltage VFD.

There are others as well such as the Eaton Cutler Hammer, but they have significantly less installed base.

Field service on medium voltage VFDs ranges from a down drive, to commissioning new drives, to preventive or predictive maintenance.

In addition to field service on medium voltage VFDs, we also repair and exchange power cells,  bus capacitors, circuit boards and other components.

We routinely repair motor protection devices such as multilins.  (See “We repair Multilins” for more info)

Safety has been a huge factor in becoming proficient in medium voltage VFD field service.  We remind ourselves often that there is “No casual contact with 4160.”

Like their low power cousins, medium voltage VFDs are found on a variety of applications, such as pumps, fans, conveyors, and compressors.  They can range from simple volts/hz to complex vector configurations.

No one in the country is better than we are at field service on medium voltage VFDs..

Give us a call and find out for yourself.   Either use any of the contact methods on this page, including live support, or call 770-448-4644.

No One, Anywhere, is Better at Drives than we are.
